  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. A four year degree in industrial engineering, supply chain, operations management, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years experience in material handling, inventory control, and/or high volume manufacturing.
  • Well developed understanding of how to utilize a WMS system for the administration of warehousing functions.
  • SAP experience a plus.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the site level execution of inventory control and warehousing objectives and strategies.  They report to the Operations Manager and work in conjunction with other onsite leadership to ensure continuity between functional best practices and site level manufacturing goals and objectives.  They oversee inventory control, material handling, shipping, and receiving activities and personnel. They enforce compliance with all policies, procedures, and practices, and are accountable for their site’s inventory/warehouse performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety is the upmost priority. Maintains a healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing company standards, policies, and procedures as well as those required by state and federal law.
  • Collaborate with team members in achieving site specific production, inventory, warehouse, and quality goals.
  • Balance available resources with areas of need to ensure tasks are completed on time and at the lowest cost.
  • Ensure all aspects of inventory movement transactions are accurately processed.
  • Work with Inventory Control to research and properly reconcile system vs. physical inventory balance issues.
  • Coordinate inventory reconciliation processes, including formal physical inventory audits and cycle counts.
  • Support and assist site leadership in developing and enhancing warehouse/bin structures, material flows, space optimization, and fixed equipment layouts.
  • Establish and maintain warehousing master data parameters within an ERP/WMS system.
  • Maintain and monitor department KPIs and metrics. Perform root cause analysis and administer corrective actions to ensure targets are consistently achieved.
  • Initiate, oversee, and actively engage in continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs and increasing profitability, such as: improving safety, economy of movement, point of use, product rotation, space utilization, transaction accuracy, damage reduction, resource optimization, facility cleanliness, etc.
  • Ensure all material handling equipment is kept in good repair, unsafe equipment is removed from operation, and proper maintenance is completed when necessary.
  • Offer supportive management that empowers employees to take an active role in process and safety improvements.
  • Provide employees with the tools and training necessary to achieve success for the company and themselves both now and in the future.
  • Responsible for all areas of personnel management including: hiring, training, mentoring, developing, performing regular performance appraisals, coaching, developing corrective action plans, and terminations.
  • Fill in for inventory control technicians, material handlers, and shipping/receiving personnel when necessary.
  • Obtain and remain current on certifications and training as required or assigned.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Utilize competitive vendors with timely delivery records.
  • Expedite parts and supplies that are not readily available.
  • Acquire parts locally when needed.


Interpersonal Responsibility:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including communication and teamwork are essential.
  • Must have ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals both internal and external to Woodgrain Millwork.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Regular bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, and turning.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.


Working Environment:

  • Noise level is usually moderate but can be extreme (hearing protection required).
  • Exposure to heat and cold extremes.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous production areas (heavy equipment traffic, slip/trip hazards, airborne dust/debris, etc)
