Porch Posts
Installation instructions as provided with Woodgrain Millwork Porch Posts... | |

|
Determine the exact location for the porch post. Using a plumb line, mark the post location on the upper beam and the porch floor. |
|
Measure the distance between the two marks. |
|
Subtract the height of your aluminum or plastic plith from the measurement and cut post to length. |
|
Cover all sides of the post (including the top and bottom ends) with a high-quality primer* |
|
Seal top and bottom ends of post with silicon or exterior-grad caulk.* |
|
Attach aluminum or plastic plinth to bottom end of post using screws provided. |
|
Put post in place, driving it into position. |
|
Drill holes through post for attaching post to upper beam. Caulk holes* before driving screws into upper beam. |
|
Use an exterior wood putty to fill any holes and immediately paint post with a high-quality exterior paint.* |
| *Manufacturer's Warranty is only valid if 1) all wood surfaces are primed 2) top and bottom post ends are sealed with caulk or silicon 3) post received topcoat of high-quality exterior paint 4) aluminum or plastic plinth is used between post and porch floor. | |
