Jalousie-
  A series of small horizontal overlapping glass slats, sections, jalousies or louvers held together by a metal end frame attached to the faces of the window frame side jambs or door stiles and rails.

 

Jamb-
 

The top and two sides of a door or window frame that contact the door or sash.

 

Jamb liner-
In a modern double-hung window, the track installed inside the jambs on which the window sashes slide.

 

Joints-
 

Coped Joint-
A joint at the meeting of moulded members.

Dado Joint-
A rectangular groove across the grain of a wood member into which the end of the joining member is inserted.

Finger Joint-
A joint made by cutting away interlocking fingers in the ends of two adherends and bonding the adherends with the cut areas fitted together to form longer pieces.

Laminate Joint-
A joint made by bonding adherends face-to-face or edge-to-edge with the grain parallel to form thicker or wider stock.

Miter Joint-
he joining of two members at an angle that bisects the angle of junction.  In mouldings this is most often a 45 degree angle.
